My grandfather, who came out of retirement as a pharmacist to help dilute and administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

Experience
Laura McFadyen’s experience prior to joining FCG spans several years in health research and policy analysis. She has worked as a Research Assistant at the NC Rural Health Research Program at The Sheps Center for Health Services Research, where she conducted studies on health policy issues, particularly focusing on rural health care systems. Her research has resulted in multiple publications, including studies on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on hospital profitability and the impact of hospital closures in rural areas. Laura has also gained experience in pharmacy operations and business management through internships and part-time work, demonstrating a well-rounded understanding of healthcare systems from multiple perspectives.

 

Laura holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, specializing in Health Policy and Management. Prior to her graduate studies, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the same university, graduating with honors. Her academic achievements are complemented by several awards, including the Department of Health Policy and Management’s Recruitment Award and the Jean Paul Yates Health Policy Research Award.
